Delaware Opens Road Stretch With Three-Set Loss at UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team opened a four-match road stretch with a three-set loss to UNCW Monday afternoon at Trask Coliseum.
The Seahawks took the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-18 while improving to 12-4 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Blue Hens dropped their third straight contest, falling to 8-8 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Katie Hillman recorded her third double-double in the last four matches with team-highs of 16 kills and 16 digs for the Blue Hens, while Alexa Swann added seven hills and four blocks. Raven Luckett set her career-high with seven kills on the afternoon, while Julia Anderson handed out 24 assists and Ariel Shonk posted 16 digs.
Meredith Peacock led UNCW with 13 kills for a .571 hitting percentage and added five blocks, while Nicole Lott contributed nine kills and 16 digs.
Delaware hung tough for most of the first set, and used a late three-point run to pull within 22-19 of the Seahawks. However UNCW took three of the final five points of the frame to capture the opening set. The Seahawks gradually pulled away in the second stanza, before winning the final five points to go in front two sets to none.
The Blue Hens were within two at 13-11 midway through the third set, but UNCW went on a six-point run and was not seriously threatened from there.
Delaware is back in action on Tuesday when the Blue Hens take on the College of Charleston at 2 p.m. at TD Arena.

• Luckett had just three career kills prior to adding seven in today's match
• The Blue Hens' .084 hitting percentage was their second lowest of the season
