Delaware Hosts Rival Drexel in Crucial CAA Battle

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team returns home on Friday as the Blue Hens will host rival Drexel at 7 p.m. at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
Delaware, which is 5-6-2 overall and 0-2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association, enters the match looking for its first conference victory. The Blue Hens played a pair of league home matches last weekend, dropping a 3-2 decision to James Madison on Friday before a 1-1 draw with Towson on Sunday. Krista Trinidad had a goal and an assist against the Dukes, while Carolyn Seltzer scored her first career goal vs. the Tigers.
The Dragons carry a 7-6 overall record and a 1-3 CAA mark into Friday's contest, with Drexel's lone conference victory coming over Towson, 3-1, last Friday. Vanessa Kara leads the Dragons with eight goals and 18 points on the season, while Madison Dunn has added three goals and Jacki Sieder has handed out a team-high three assists.
Kara and Blue Hen junior Natalie Zelenky are each tied for third in the CAA with eight goals this year, and rank fourth and fifth respectively in the league in points.
Delaware leads the all-time series with Drexel, 13-2-3, and the teams played to a scoreless draw last season in Philadelphia. The Blue Hens have never lost to Drexel in Newark, as UD holds a 7-0-2 home record vs. the Dragons.
