Delaware Cross Country Returns Home to Host Blue & Gold Invitational Saturday Morning

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware women's cross country squad will return home for its second meet of the year at White Clay Creek State Park as the Blue Hens host the annual Blue & Gold Invitational Saturday morning.
Delaware, coming off a 24th place finish at the prestigious Paul Short Invitational last Friday at Lehigh, will be one of 12 teams taking part in the event. On Friday, the Blue & Gold High School meet will begin at 3 p.m. with teams competing in girls and boys junior varsity and varsity races.
The six-kilometer women's race, which will include Delaware, Delaware Tech, Immaculata, Millersville, Monmouth, and the Towson Track Club, will begin at 10 a.m. while the men's eight-kilometer race, which will include teams from Delaware Tech, Harcum, Immaculata, Monmouth, Navy, and Towson University Track Club, will start at 10:40 a.m.
Delaware will be hosting its second home meet of the season after placing second in the team standings out of 11 teams at the Delaware Invitational on Sept. 12. In that meet, Delaware junior Betsy Erlanger took individual honors. The Hens are the three-time defending team champions of the Blue & Gold Invitational.
Admission to both events is free but fans are reminded that the entry fee to White Clay Creek State Park is $4 for in-state cars, $8 for out of state cars, $17 for in-state vans, and $34 for out of state vans.
