RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior libero Ariel Shonk was named third team All-Colonial Athletic Association while junior middle blocker Alexa Swann was selected to the CAA All-Academic Team as the league announced its conference awards Thursday night.
Shonk (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood International Charter) earned third team All-CAA honors for the third time in her career, along with her freshman and sophomore seasons. Shonk currently leads the conference and ranks 16th in Division I by averaging 5.23 digs per set, while her 591 digs are the 11th most in a UD single season.
Shonk reached double figures in digs during all but one match this year, and surpassed the 30-digs mark four times. She posted a season-high 38 digs in the five-set win at Towson on Oct. 21, and added 36 in the 3-1 triumph over Jacksonville on Sept. 4.
Shonk finished her career with 1,932 career digs, second most in school history and currently 11th among active Division I players. She also holds three of the top eight single season digs averages in Blue Hen history, as her 5.23 average this year is good for eighth at UD.

She was a CAA Academic Honor Roll selection and was named to the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Additionally, Swann is involved with The Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement, as well as the National Society of Leadership and Success.
