Ben Sampson Earns CoSIDA District 2 All-Academic Honors for Third Straight Time

NEWARK, Del. – For the third straight season, Delaware men's soccer senior Ben Sampson has been selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 selection.
An electrical engineering major from Woodbury, Minn. (Woodbury), Sampson has maintained a 3.98 cumulative GPA through his four years at Delaware. This season, the midfielder and team captain has started all 18 games for the Blue Hens while accumulating two goals and one assist.
Ian HennessyThe 2014 CAA Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Sampson was also a Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-American® last season while earning District 2 All-Academic First Team honors as a sophomore. He is also a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society and CAA Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must carry a 3.3 or better GPA, be a starter or key reserve and have at least sophomore standing. District 2 includes all NCAA Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia. The teams are selected by a vote of sports information directors. All first-team selections are now eligible for Academic All-American accolades, which will be announced in late November.
Sampson and the Blue Hens return to the pitch at 7 p.m. this coming Saturday as they battle UNCW in a CAA Semifinals contest at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
