Ben Sampson Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America? Second Team

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Senior Ben Sampson continues to haul in accolades as the Woodbury, Minn. (Woodbury) native was named Tuesday as a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second Team for Division I men's soccer.
An electrical engineering major, Sampson has maintained a 3.98 cumulative GPA through his four years at Delaware. He garnered CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team honors last season and has collected All-District honors in each of his three seasons eligible for the award.
“I am very honored to be selected once again to a CoSIDA Academic All-America® team for men's soccer this year,” exclaimed Sampson. “I'd like to give a big thank you to my parents and all my teammates and coaches who push me everyday to excel and to be better. Additionally, I'd like to thank the University of Delaware for providing me the wonderful opportunity to do shine both in the classroom and on the field!”
Matt Haney, who earned first team honors in 2005 and 2006 and third team honors in 2004, and Kyle Davis, who was a second team pick in 2009.The 2014 CAA Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Sampson is also a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society, Dean's List and CAA Academic Honor Roll.
Ian HennessySampson guided the Blue Hens to a CAA Finals appearance and finished the year with three goals and two assists. A senior academically, he will return to the pitch for Delaware next season after obtaining a medical redshirt following his freshman campaign.
Seventeen of the 33 members of the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I men's soccer teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with seven student-athletes sporting a perfect 4.0.
Notre Dame senior midfielder Patrick Hodan was selected as the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-American® of the Year for Division I men's soccer.
