BOSTON, Mass. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team plays its final regular season road matches of the season this weekend as the Blue Hens face Northeastern and Hofstra.
The Blue Hens, who are 12-13 overall and 4-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association, will take on the Huskies on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Boston and the Pride on Monday at 7 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
Delaware remains in sixth place in the conference standings in hopes to qualify for the CAA Tournament. The Blue Hens are a game in front of William & Mary, and two games ahead of Elon and Northeastern, in the race for the final berth in the league playoffs.
UD split two home matches last weekend with a five-set victory over Elon, 3-2, on Saturday, before falling short in a back and forth battle to William and Mary, 3-1, on Sunday.
Ariel Shonk moved into second place on the UD career digs list on Sunday and now has 1,857 for her career, which is the 11th most among active Division 1 players. She continues to lead the CAA with 5.27 digs per set, while setter Julia Anderson ranks fourth with 9.08 assists per set.
Katie Hillman now has 1,237 career kills, and needs 29 more to move into 10th place in UD history.
Northeastern enters Saturday's match with a 5-22 overall record and 2-10 CAA, although the Huskies picked up an impressive five-set home victory over James Madison on Thursday. Brigitte Burcescu is eighth in the CAA with 3.16 kills per set for NU, while Jamie Bredahl ranks ninth with 5.17 assists per set.
Hofstra enters the weekend at 17-9 overall and 8-3 in the CAA. Setter Hannah Klemm ranks second in the nation with 1,178 assists this season, and leads the CAA with an 11.66 assist average. Leticia Valente ranks second in the CAA with a .343 attack percentage, while Veronika Kostiva is third with 3.70 kills per set.
UD defeated Northeastern, 3-1, on Oct. 18 at the BCC and has defeated the Huskies in 15 of the last 18 meetings, including three straight. Delaware fell to Hofstra, 3-0, on Oct. 16 in the Carpenter Sports Building. Hofstra has defeated the Hens in three consecutive meetings, and in five of the last six matchups.
