"BE POSITIVE" with the University of Delaware Women's Basketball Team as they raise awareness for The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.
The B+ Heroes Program
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation believes that every child who has battled cancer -- or is still in the fight – is a hero. So that everyone knows how special they are, we honor each child (and their siblings) with a B+ Hero medal. When the Heroes are feeling well enough, they are invited to participate in a number of B+ events, and are paired with an adopted family. UD Athletics & Recreation is proud to have several teams that have adopted B+ Heroes and touched the lives of the B+ community over the years, including women's basketball.
All B+ Heroes and their families within the State of Delaware are invited to register in advance to receive FREE admission to the game, and participate in pregame and halftime programming. Invitations are currently being sent, but if you didn't receive it, please email BlueHensMarketing@udel.edu before Monday, 2/6
Gameday Attire - GO GOLD!
Fans are encouraged to wear Delaware Gold to the game in support of childhood cancer. Like other forms of cancer, childhood cancer has an international symbol, the gold ribbon. Gold is a precious metal, and our children are precious. Go Gold is a way that your school or workplace can join in the fight to beat childhood cancer and provide HOPE to those who need it most.

About the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the memory of Andrew, a 14-year-old athlete and 'A' student from Wilmington, Delaware. January 27, 2007, Andrew helped lead his team to victory in a state championship soccer tournament. Within 48 hours, he was in cardiac arrest. The diagnosis was Leukemia (AML). The doctors didn't expect Andrew to live through the night. Amazingly, Andrew fought for 167 days and went to Heaven on July 14, 2007.
Throughout Andrew's illness, he inspired thousands of friends and families. We learned his blood type was B+, which became our motto throughout the fight, to "Be Positive." B+ reflected how Andrew lived his life and how he inspired others to do the same. Andrew's valiant journey was chronicled in newspapers, on television and on his website, where he and his family have received visits from almost 2 million "friends" leaving messages of prayer, hope, consolation, and stories about Andrew.
