Casey Lyons Tabbed CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Following a historic week for the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team, junior Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada/Berkshire) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
Lyons posted 11 goals, two assists, and two groundballs in two contests for the Blue Hens (2-1).
In Delaware's 22-2 rout of Lafayette, Lyons tallied nine goals, including six in the first half, and an assist for a 10-point day. She became the first Blue Hen to record nine or more goals since 1983 and first CAA player since 2002 to complete the feat. Lyons was also the first NCAA Division I player to have nine goals in regulation since 2013.
Against No. 14 Penn, Lyons registered two goals and an assist. For the season, the attacker leads UD with 19 points on 14 goals and five assists through three games.
Hofstra senior April Iannetta garnered CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors while Emma Macleod (William & Mary) was named the Rookie of the Week.
The #rv Blue Hens travel to Philadelphia Wednesday to take on La Salle at 7 p.m.
