SPARKS, Md. – University of Delaware Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Amy Altig has been named the Team USA Girls National Team Development Program (NTDP) U-19 Co-Head Coach, as announced by USA Lacrosse. Altig will lead the Red, White & Blue in the Rivalry Challenge this September and the Brogden Cup in October.
"It's an incredible honor to continue with the USA U19 girls' lacrosse program. To work alongside amazing coaches who I have had the privilege of wearing the red, white, and blue with is a dream come true. I'm excited to work with the next great wave of young women who will go on to impact and grow the game for the better."
Altig will share coaching duties with Mount St. Mary's head coach Lauren Skellchock. The duo previously coached together fall at the 2025 Rivalry Challenge and the 2025 Brogden Cup, leading the U19 squad to a perfect 6-0 combined record. They also coached the USA Select U18 Girls Team to a title at the 2024 Brogden Cup.
Altig has been affiliated with USA Lacrosse since she made the U.S. National Team as a player in 2003. She was a part of the 2009 U.S. World Cup Training Team and 2008 U.S. Prague Touring Team. She also served as a field coach for U.S. tryouts from 2015-17 before becoming an assistant coach with the U.S. senior team, helping the U.S. win a gold medal at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's Championship.
Under Altig, the Fightin' Blue Hens sit at 11-4 on the season and have won at least a share of the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) regular season championship. The 11 wins are the most since 2016 and Delaware has now won at least 10 games in three-straight seasons, marking the first time the program has done that since the 2014-16 campaigns.
In her time at Delaware, Altig has coached 14 all-conference selections, one All-American and three all-region picks. Additionally, the Blue Hens have taken home three conference major awards as Delaney McDaniel earned CAA Rookie of the Year honors in 2018 and Madison Hranicka was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons (2023-24).
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens sit at 7-0 in ASUN play and will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 22 with a matchup at Liberty. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
