Blue Hen Laxers Continue Action Saturday at Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team will be looking to pick up its second straight win this Saturday when the Blue Hens take the short trip north to take on Villanova University at 12 noon at Villanova Stadium.
The Blue Hens (2-2) are coming off a hard-fought 11-10 victory at Mt. St. Mary's Tuesday in a game that was pushed back four days due to cold weather in the Emmitsburg, Md. area.
Senior attackman Tom Holland scored three goals and senior goalkeeper Brett Anton had 10 saves in goal to lead Delaware. Freshman midfielder Zach Runberg scored what proved to the game-winner with a man-up tally seven seconds into the final quarter. Delaware then held off a late Mounties surge for the win.
Delaware is led offensively by senior midfielder Brian Kormondy (5 goals-7 assists), Holland (9-0), and senior attackman Beau Jones (4-4) while Anton (9.45 goals against average; .519 save pct.) leads the defense. Redshirt freshman Matt Olbrich has won 53 percent of his faceoff attempts.
Villanova (2-1), which is earning votes in the USILA Top 20 poll, opened the season with a 13-10 setback to then No. 5 John Hopkins before following with wins of 11-7 over then No. 17 Penn State and 14-11 over Drexel on Tuesday. The Wildcats are led offensively by Danny Seibel (10-0) and Jack Curran (6-3).
Both teams rank among the national leaders in man-up offense as Villanova scores on 50 percent of its chances (5 of 10) with Delaware right behind at 47 percent (8 of 17).
