Blue Hens Open 2015 Spring Season at Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team will open its 2015 spring season on Sunday through Tuesday when the Blue Hens participate in the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic.
The invitational, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, features 40 teams in this year's field, including host College of Charleston and fellow Colonial Athletic Association members Elon, Towson, and William & Mary.
The 54-hole tournament will be played on the par 72, 5,964-yard Osprey Point Course and the par 72, 5,901-yard Oak Point Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
Tournament play will begin on Sunday, as each team will play 18 holes on either Osprey Point or Oak Point with double tee times from 9:30 a.m. through 12:18 p.m. Teams will play the opposite course on Monday, again with double tee times from 9:30 a.m. through 12:18 p.m.
After 36 holes of play, the top 20 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point while the bottom 20 teams will play for the flight championship at Oak Point. Tuesday's final round begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Patty PostAmanda Terzian will lead the Blue Hens this weekend after averaging 74.00 shots per round during the fall and tying for first place at the UD Invitational. Vimonthip Benjasupawan appeared in all five fall tournaments while ranking second on the squad with a 77.29 average round, while Rachel Lee was third with a 77.85 stroke average and finished in third place at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational.
Andi Slane averaged 78.09 shots per round while appearing in four fall tournaments, while Vitoria Teixeira ranked fifth on the team with a 79.36 average round. Nathalie Filler, who earned medalist honors at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, posted a 79.86 average during the fall season.Following the season-opening tournament at Kiawah, Delaware will compete in the University of North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. on Mar. 9-10. The Blue Hens will then participate in the Middleburg Bank/William & Mary Intercollegiate on Mar. 30-31, before playing in the UNCW Lady Seahawk Intercollegiate on Apr. 11-12. The regular season concludes on Apr. 17-19 with the CAA Championships at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
