Makeda Nicholas Named CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware women's basketball freshman Makeda Nicholas (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) was honored Monday as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.
Nicholas averaged 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 41.7 percent from the field to guide the Blue Hens (12-11, 7-5 CAA) to league wins over Northeastern and UNCW.
The forward had the best game of her rookie campaign against the Huskies by notching 17 points and four blocks.
For the year, Nicholas puts up 4.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per contest.
Elon's Sam Coffer was recognized as the CAA Player of the Week.
Delaware plays its next two games on the road as the Blue Hens travel to William & Mary Friday and James Madison Sunday. Sunday's game against the Dukes will be televised on the American Sports Network.
