Lexie Duch, a 5-9 setter/defensive specialist from Lincoln, Neb., was an all-conference selection and recipient of the Myron Oehlerking Leadership Award. A team captain for Lincoln East High School, Duch was an Academic All-State honoree who also earned the Scholar-Athlete Award and was selected Academic All-Conference. She plans on majoring in business at Delaware.
“Lexie is the type of recruit that we really like to bring to Delaware,” Kenny said. “Her father is a Blue Hen (Class of 1989) and she has a lot of family in the area. Lexie has an outgoing personality and is a very strong student. We expect her to help us with our setting as well as defensively.”
Corey Perkins, a 5-9 outside hitter from Valrico, Fla., was a four-year starter at Tampa Prep High School. She earned first team All-Hillsborough County, was selected the Tampa Bay Times MVP, and was named to the Tampa Tribune Parade of Athletes. Perkins is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the Math and Spanish Honor Society, and earned honor roll or Head's List accolades every semester. She plans on majoring in chemical engineering or neuroscience at Delaware.
“Corey is extremely fast and dynamic, and a very exciting athlete to watch,” Kenny remarked. “She reminds me of previous Delaware outside hitting standouts Kelly Gibson and Kim Stewart. Corey has some big shoes to fill being compared to those two, but we have high expectations for her. Corey is a dedicated student-athlete with her sights sets on engineering.”
Brooke Robertson, a 6-1 outside hitter from Breinigsville, Pa., was an all-district and All-State selection while leading Parkland High School to the league, district and state championships. Robertson has been a high honor roll student during all four years, and was a member of the Peer Helper Club. She has not decided on a major at Delaware.
“Brooke is a tall, long, lanky athlete with a ton of potential,” Kenny stated. “She comes from a very accomplished high school program and knows how to win (45-0 record during senior year). Brooke has a very high ceiling and can develop into a go-to player for us. She hails from an athletic family and will get to play against her sister Kelly (Penn State transfer who is now attending James Madison) the next three years.”
Liz Tobey, a 6-1 setter and outside hitter from Central Valley, N.Y., was the team MVP of Monroe-Woodbury High School during each of the last two years. A team captain, Tobey was selected first team all-county and led the county in kills during each of her final three seasons, posting more than 1,000 kills for her career. Tobey, who also is a member of the National Honor Society, has not decided on a major at Delaware.
“Liz is an exceptional athlete with good size and excellent tools,” Kenny said. “She has the potential to help us in a variety of ways, and I expect her to make an immediate impact for us. Liz also hails from an athletic family as one of her older brothers, Mike, is the center on the Virginia men's basketball team.”
