NEWARK, Del. -- On Saturday the University of Delaware softball team honored senior rightfielder Jessica Grisler for recently breaking the school records for career hits and runs scored.
Grisler was presented with a commemorative golden bat in between games of the Blue Hens' doubleheader against UNCW, posing for photos along with her family near home plate.
Grisler, a native of Sacramento, Calif., recorded a single and a double during last Sunday's home doubleheader vs. Drexel, becoming the school's career hits leader.
She then crossed the plate on a Sarah Bencivenga triple during the first game on Saturday against the Seahawks to set her second school record in seven days.
Grisler now has 210 career hits and 121 runs scored, breaking both records that were previously held by Mandy Welch.
Grisler, who has started and batted leadoff during all 187 games of her career, is on pace to break the school's games played record of 201 currently held by Michelle Plant from 2004-07.
She has amassed 290 total bases during her career, one shy of the UD record held by Laura Streets from 2001-04.
Additionally Grisler ranks fifth in UD history with 35 doubles, tied for sixth with 26 stolen bases, tied for 10th with nine triples, tied for 11th with nine home runs, and 11th with 63 RBI. Her current batting average of .341 would be the fifth highest in Blue Hen history.
