Softball Wins Eighth-Straight Game With Five-Inning Win Over Kennesaw State

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Maddie Diamond went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and four RBIs.Â
- Sydney Shaffer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Â
- Allie Nankivell and Katie Scheivert both scored two runs and drew walks.Â
- Josie Crossman pitched all five innings and allowed just three hits, zero runs, and one walk.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Crossman allowed a double in the first and a single in the third, while pitching perfect innings in the second and fourth.Â
- Delaware broke out in the fourth with four runs. Nankivell, Scheivert, and Shaffer all reached base to start the inning and Gianna Costaro hit a sacrifice fly for the first run. Diamond capped a 12-pitch at bat with a three-run home run.Â
- Crossman worked around two baserunners in the fifth.Â
- UD loaded the bases again in the fifth for Shaffer, who singled home Sorella Gallucci and Nankivell to put Delaware up 6-0. Diamond hit an RBI double for the seventh run, and Grace Hausamann scored as a pinch runner to seal the win.Â
GAME NOTES
- Delaware won its 51st game via run rule under Jen Steele and 24th in conference play. This was also the sixth run-rule win of the season and third in conference play (Liberty - 3/28), Middle Tennessee - 4/10).
- Crossman has been the winning pitcher in six run-rule wins in her career.Â
- The six run-rule wins this season are tied for the second most in program history, also accomplished in 2021, 2015, and 2008. UD won 17 games last season via run-rule.Â
- Delaware improved to 75-23 in the month of April under Steele.Â
- Delaware has won 12 of its last 14 games.Â
- Diamond tied her career high in RBIs with four, done three other times this season. Her 11 home runs and 35 RBIs rank third and fifth in program history during a freshman season.Â
- Of Diamond's 11 home runs this season, 10 have come with runners on base. She has six two-run home runs and four three-run home runs.Â
- Shaffer recorded her 40th career multi-RBI game.Â
- Nankivell extended her on-base streak to 22 games. She also stole her 15th base of the season, moving into sole possession of fourth-most in program history for a freshman.Â
- Crossman's shutout was her fifth of the season and third of her career. It was also Delaware's fifth shutout of the season and first against a CUSA opponent.Â
- Delaware is on an eight-game winning streak, trailing UConn (11), UCLA (10), Delaware State (10), Nebraska (9), Princeton (9), and Army (9) for longest in Division I. Oregon and Belmont are also on an eight-game win streak.Â

Delaware will play doubleheader tomorrow, as Sunday's game has been moved due to impending weather. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.Â
TICKETS
Softball season ticket deposits are available now. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets will go on sale later this winter.
Individual ticket prices will be $10 per game and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Season ticket packages will be available at 50 percent off the single-game rate. There will also be group rates, incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. All seating will be general admission at Delaware Softball Diamond.
UD students will continue to receive free tickets to all home softball games.
