RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman first baseman Mariah Kondravy was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Kondravy, a native of Bethlehem, Pa. (Liberty HS), had an outstanding week at the plate during the Blue Hens' five games, leading the team with seven hits, five runs scored, four home runs and eight runs batted in. She posted a .412 batting average and a 1.176 slugging percentage on the week, recording a hit and an RBI during all five contests.
Kondravy belted a two-run homer during Wednesday's 10-0 victory over Rider, before going 3 for 4 with three RBI, a double and another two-run blast during the 11-3 triumph in the nightcap. She then drilled solo home runs during both ends of Saturday's doubleheader at Charleston, and added a run-scoring single in the 3-2 victory over the Cougars on Sunday.
Kondravy's four consecutive games with a home run is believed to be a school record, while her six longballs this year are third in the CAA and tied for fourth in a UD single season. She also currently ranks second in the CAA with 66 total bases, fourth with 26 RBI and sixth with a .373 batting average.
Kondravy is the fifth Blue Hen to earn CAA weekly honors this season and the second to be named the conference Rookie of the Week, along with Jordan Cargile on Mar. 3.
Delaware, which is 19-13 overall and 4-4 in the CAA, returns to action on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. non-league doubleheader at Monmouth.
