Three NCAA Tournament Participants Highlight Blue Hens? 2015 Schedule

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's soccer team announced its upcoming 2015 slate on Tuesday, as the Blue Hens wil play nine matches at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
The Blue Hens, who finished tied for sixth in the CAA (3-4-2) last season and went 7-9-2 overall, will begin their 2015 campaign with a trip to Loyola (Md.) on Aug. 21.
Scott GrzendaAfter their matchup with the Greyhounds, the Hens will make their home debut on Sunday, Aug. 23 vs. Army West Point.
Delaware will then participate in the University of Virginia Tournament, taking on Richmond on Aug. 28 before facing last season's national runner-up Virginia on Aug. 30. UD then returns home to face 2014 NCAA Tournament participant Georgetown on Sept. 3, as well at Brown on Sept. 6.
The Blue Hens will participate in a doubleheader with the men's squad on Sunday, Sept. 13. The UD men will play the first game of the twin bill at 12 p.m. with a matchup against Lehigh, while the women will follow at 3 p.m. vs. George Washington.
UD will square off with nine non-conference opponents before the Blue Hens commence CAA play with two road games - Sept. 25 at College of Charleston and Sept. 27 at UNCW.
Following the two-game road trip to begin conference play, the Hens will have five straight home games beginning Oct. 2 vs. James Madison. UD will also welcome Towson, Drexel, Elon and William & Mary to Newark during the homestand, the program's longest since 2002.
Delaware will wrap up the regular season with a pair of road games at Hofstra and Northeastern.
The CAA Tournament is set to begin with the quarterfinals on Nov. 1, with the semifinals scheduled to take place Nov. 6. The CAA Championship Game will be played Sunday, Nov. 8.
With Natalie Zelenky and Nikki Adams, the Blue Hens return two of their top three goal scorers from 2014. Rising senior Elise Krause was tied for the team lead with four assists last season, while Zelenky also contributed three assists during the year.
UD ranked sixth in the CAA in scoring by 1.33 goals per game a year ago. The Hens also received plenty of fan support in 2014 as UD finished second in the CAA in home attendance.
