Blue Hen Women's Golfer Nathalie Filler Wins New England Women's Amateur

SEEKONK, Mass. -- University of Delaware women's golf rising senior Nathalie Filler posted an impressive victory by capturing the New England Women's Amateur this week.
Filler, a native of Bloomfield, Conn. (Westminster School) carded a six under par 75-69-72-216 on the par 74 course at Ledgemont Country Club. Filler posted a narrow one-shot victory over Georgetown's Jacquelyn Eleey, while no other golfer finished within 10 shots of her score.
Filler posted two birdies during her one over par opening round on Monday, before shooting a sizzling five under 35-34-69 on Tuesday. She recorded a pair of eagles on the eighth and 13th holes, while adding four birdies on the day.
Filler made two birdies during Wednesday's front nine, but a bogey on 16 dropped her into a tie with Eleey at four under par. Both players birdied the par-five 17, before Filler sealed the victory with a dramatic birdie on the final hole of the tournament.
Filler was one of three Blue Hens to compete in all 10 individuals during the 2014-15 season, ranking fifth on the team with a 78.66 average round. She became the first medalist in UD history by winning the title at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, while her 75-71-146 total at the tournament is the lowest two-round score in school history.
