Both will serve in a volunteer capacity, with Giménez working as an assistant coach and Faisal serving as the team's director of operations.
“It is always terrific to have our Blue Hens return home,” exclaimed Hennessy, who is in his 10th season at Delaware. “Roberto and Chibsah have both been great ambassadors in helping build Delaware soccer to the level it has become. I believe both will have unique careers in the game, in educating young players in the coming years and continuing to be a positive reflection of the University of Delaware. We are thrilled to have them on staff.”
Giménez graduated from UD in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences as a foreign languages major. A two-time Colonial Athletic Association selection and the 2011 CAA Rookie of the Year, the forward missed the entirety of his senior season due to a knee injury. Giménez finished his career in a Blue Hens uniform tied for second all-time with 16 assists. Additionally, he posted 50 points, a mark good for 11th in program history.
Faisal played for the Blue Hens from 2008-10 before receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Delaware in 2011. The midfielder amassed three goals (all game-winning) and one assist in 29 games played after arriving to UD from Prempeh College. Before returning to the Hens in a coaching capacity, Faisal served as an assistant coach at Wilmington University while also spending time with the Kirkwood Soccer Club and Delaware Youth Soccer Association. He has also worked as an assistant coach at Goldey-Beacom College.
The favorite to win the CAA, the Hens take part in exhibition contests against Marist (Aug. 16) and Monmouth (Aug. 22) prior to opening regular season play Friday, August 28 by hosting Central Arkansas at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
