Delaware Women's Soccer Selects Market, Slark, Krause as 2015 Captains

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware women's soccer head coach Scott Grzenda announced his team captains for the 2015 season Wednesday.
A trio of senior midfielders - Alison Slark, Emily Market, and Elise Krause - have been selected to lead the charge for the Blue Hens, who will open the season this Friday, Aug. 21, at Loyola (Md.) in Baltimore at 7 p.m. and follow with the home opener Sunday vs. Army West Point at 1 p.m.Delaware is looking to return to the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament this season after missing a berth a year ago for the first time since 2010. The team went 7-9-2 overall and tied for sixth in league play in 2014 but returns 13 players with starting experience.
The trio in Slark, Market, and Krause all had successful 2014 campaigns as each played in at least 15 of the team's 18 contests.
Slark (Kensington, Md./St. John's HS) started 17 of 18 games during the 2014 season as the midfielder contributed six shots to the mix, including season- highs in the matches against Marist and William & Mary. She has one career goal on 13 career shots.
Market (Holland, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie HS) also started 17 of the team's 18 games during the 2014 season. The fourth-year starter and three-time All-CAA selection has also earned a spot on the 2015 preseason women's soccer All-CAA team. A CoSIDA Academic All-American candidate, she scored goals against Monmouth and CAA foe UNCW a year ago and has four career game-winning goal.
Krause (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) played in 15 of 18 games during the 2014 season and started 13 of them. She also recorded one goal and four assists last season with her lone goal the game-winner in overtime vs. Marist.
Grzenda is entering his 26th season as head coach of the Blue Hens women's soccer team this fall.
