Delaware Releases 2015 Women's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule Thursday and it will prove to be no walk in the park for the Blue Hens, as UD will travel for eight contests while hosting just three.
The Hens, who finished 15-17 last season with an appearance in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament semifinals, will debut their campaign against in the same fashion as last year with contests against Lafayette, Marist and East Carolina.
First, Delaware opens with a home date against the Leopards on Friday, Nov. 13 before taking on perennial postseason competitor Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Nov. 19. The Red Foxes finished 2014-15 with a mark of 21-12 while going 15-5 in the MAAC.
UD welcomes the Pirates to Newark for the first time in program history on November 22 before becoming road warriors as the Blue Hens travel for the next six games.
Delaware begins the stretch with a cross-country trip to California for the San Diego State Thanksgiving Classic, held Nov. 27-29. The tournament features the Big Ten's Wisconsin Badgers, the Summit League's North Dakota State Bison and the host Aztecs from the Mountain West. UD has never faced any of the three teams in its 45-year history.
Jeanine RadiceUD will return to familiar territory on Dec. 7 as the Blue Hens travel to Fairfax, Va. to take on former Colonial Athletic Association foe George Mason.
The team follows with a trip to the nation's capital with a road contest at Georgetown on Dec. 10.
Delaware then gets a much-needed 10-day break from competition for fall semester finals before resuming play on Dec. 20 at Bucknell.
Prior to leaving for a hiatus for the holidays, the Blue Hens return home for a Dec. 22 date against Vermont.
The final non-conference bout takes place in Pittsburgh, Pa. as Delaware takes on Robert Morris for the first time since 1986.
The Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball schedule will be released this fall.
