Blue Hen Senior Libero Ariel Shonk Named To UCF Invitational All-Tournament Team

ORLANDO, Fla. -- University of Delaware senior libero Ariel Shonk was named to the Holiday Inn Orlando East UCF Area Invitational All-Tournament Team following her outstanding play at the Blue Hens' season-opening invitational over the weekend.
Shonk (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood International Charter) led Delaware in digs during all three contests, as Delaware kicked off the season by playing three five-set matches including a thrilling victory over the host Knights on Friday. She made 27 digs in the season-opener against Southern Illinois, adding 18 vs. UCF, and had a season-high 31 in Saturday's five-set loss to Northern Colorado.
Shonk averaged 5.07 digs per set while serving as the team's libero and now has 1,417 digs for her career, moving her into 10th place on the UD career list.
Delaware returns to action this weekend with three matches at the N.C. State Hilton Garden Inn Cary Classic in Raleigh, N.C. The Blue Hens will face Jacksonville on Friday at 4:30 p.m., Ole Miss Saturday at 10 a.m. and the Wolfpack Saturday at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Gymnasium, N.C. State's university recreation facility.
