COMPLETE WATCH LIST
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Delaware junior Guillermo Delgado (Tres Cantos, Spain/Jose Luis Sampedro) was one of thirty men nationally named Wednesday to the Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. Delgado was also a member of last season's watch list.
The list is compiled by the NSCAA Men's NCAA Division I All-America Committee, based on analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.
A two-time All-America honoree, the midfielder was the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year after leading the conference and ranking among national leaders with 12 goals and 26 points. Delgado guided the Blue Hens to the first CAA regular season title in program history. In just two seasons at Delaware, he is tied for third all-time in the record books with 27 goals and fourth with 61 points in 39 career games played.
Near the end of the collegiate regular season, NCAA Division I coaches whose programs are current NSCAA College Services members will vote on their top choices and the lists will be narrowed down to the top 15 players. College soccer fans will also have the opportunity to participate in the selection process by voting for their favorite semifinalist in November on the MAC Hermann Trophy website.
From that pool, three finalists will be chosen for the award.
