Delaware Set to Take on Gales at Iona Wednesday

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team looks to continue its winning ways with a 4:30 p.m. contest at Iona Wednesday.

Blue Hens junior All-American Guillermo Delgado scored twice while Carlos Perales also found the back of the net as the University of Delaware men's soccer team posted a 3-2 victory over Lehigh Sunday afternoon at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium. The Blue Hens won their second consecutive match and improved to 3-1-1 on the season, while the Mountain Hawks fell to 3-2 on the year. UD goalkeeper Blai Palmí made two saves to earn the victory for the Blue Hens, who enjoyed a 21-7 shot advantage.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· With two goals against the Mountain Hawks, Guillermo Delgado has moved into a tie for third place in school history with 70 career points alongside John Petito (1978-82).
· Delgado's 31 goals are third-most in school history and four shy of second place, currently held by John McCloskey (1975-78).
· Delgado posted the sixth multi-goal game of his career against Lehigh and currently leads the Hens with four goals (15th nationally) this season.
· With 12 career assists, Joe Dipre is tied for eighth all-time in program history with John McCloskey (1975-78) and Roger Morley (1966-68).
· This season is the 90th overall in program history. In the previous 89 seasons, UD has compiled a record of 425-647-103 (.362) with three 10-plus-win seasons in the last four years.
· The Blue Hens have announced that Saturday's game against Columbia will be broadcast in Spanish via Hens All-Access.
· The winningest coach in Iona program history, Fernando Barboto (Montclair State '94) is in his 12th season at the helm of the Gaels.
ABOUT IONA
The Gaels are 2-2-1 to start the season and are coming off of victories at Drexel (1-0) and versus Stony Brook (3-1). Marcos Nunez leads the team with five points on two goals and an assist while Brendan Reardon (2g) and Daniel Huerta (1g, 2a) each have four points on the year. Reardon is coming off of earning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades after registering the game-winning goals against the Dragons and Seawolves. Julian Petrello has started five games for IC and has posted nine saves (.750) with 0.71 goals allowed per game.
