Shivock, a native of New Castle, Del. who attended Red Lion Christian Academy, comes to Newark after serving as an assistant coach at Arcadia University last year. While with the Knights, Shivock assisted with daily activities on and off the playing field under head coach Sarah Norris. Shivock prepared practice schedules and ran individual practice sessions, and also helped prepare team travel, assisted in recruiting, and helped run clinics and camps.
Shivock earned a degree in sport management from Liberty University in 2014, and was a four-year member of the Flames softball team. She currently ranks among the school's top 10 leaders in runs, RBI, home runs and walks, and set the Liberty freshman home runs mark during the 2011 season. She helped lead the Flames to the Big South title as a freshman, when she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Shivock was selected the team's Rookie of the Year in 2011 and MVP in 2012, while she earned second team All-Region honors as a junior. A Dean's List student, she was twice selected to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and was named an NFCA All-American Scholar during all four years.
Following graduation, Shivock served a summer internship with Ripken Youth Baseball where she instructed and coached youth baseball clinics and camps.
“I'm very excited to have Sammi join the Blue Hen softball coaching staff,” Seneca said. “She brings great enthusiasm and experience at the Division I level, so she will be a wonderful asset to our student-athletes. Sammi is a Delaware native with close ties to the community, which will also greatly benefit our program.”
