Blue Hens Open CAA Play This Weekend vs. James Madison, Towson

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team opens its Colonial Athletic Association schedule this weekend with a pair of home matches against James Madison and Towson.
The Blue Hens, who are 8-5 and enter the weekend riding a four-match winning streak, will face the Dukes Friday at 7 p.m. in the Carpenter Sports Building before taking on Towson Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center. Live video and live stats will be available for both matches.
The UD attack is paced by junior outside hitter Autumn Jenkins, who leads the squad and ranks ninth in the conference with 2.76 kills per set. Katie Hillman ranks second on the team with a 2.45 kills average, while Alexa Swann and Chandler Bryant rank fifth and sixth in the CAA respectively with .320 and .308 hitting percentages.
Setter Julia Anderson is third in the CAA with a 9.34 assist average, while libero Ariel Shonk ranks second in the league and 19th nationally with 5.20 digs per set.
James Madison is 11-3 on the season, and the Dukes picked up a five-set victory over Towson in their conference opener Wednesday night. Janey Goodman paces JMU with a league-high 4.27 kills average, while Taylor Austin leads the CAA with 5.27 digs per set. Kelly Robertson, the older sister of UD freshman Brooke Robertson, averages 2.06 kills per set and has posted 26 blocks for the Dukes.
Towson carries a 13-2 record into Sunday's match, as the Tigers had their 13-match winning streak snapped with Wednesday's loss in Harrisonburg. Jocelyn Kuilan leads Towson with 3.64 kills per set, while Candace Steadman is hitting .451 for the year. The contest will feature the top two hitting teams in the league, as Towson is hitting .276 on the year while the Blue Hens have posted a .234 attack percentage.
Friday's match against James Madison will take place at the former full-time home of the Blue Hens, the Carpenter Sports Building, on north campus. Fans are able to purchase tickets at the door for the match (cash only), while seating is limited and subject to availability. Doors open at 6 p.m.; standing room only will be offered once the bleachers are full.
The address for GPS is 26 North College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716. Complimentary parking is available in Lot 19 (map above). Additional parking is also available in the Trabant Garage at a cost of $2/hour per car (maximum of $5). All other University lots require a standard UD parking permit.
