NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware rowing team is collecting donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in conjunction with its Head of the Christina Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 4.
In addition to competing on the water for fastest times, crews are also competing to see who can raise the most money for the worthy cause. The Blue Hens have raised over $5500 so far, and will continue to collect donations through race day.
Donations can be made through the Blue Hens Women's Rowing for a Cure website at https://bluehens.passioncff.org/. This fun and exciting event will help raise funds to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation forward its mission to find a cure for all people with cystic fibrosis. The foundation has fueled dramatic improvements in cystic fibrosis research and care. Because of the foundation, people with CF are living longer and healthier lives. The outlook for people with CF continues to improve year after year.
“For us, the CF fundraiser isn't just about raising awareness about cystic fibrosis, it's about showing Kate that as a team we support her and understand the extra effort she has to put in,” said Blue Hen rower Kaitlyn Thomesen, in reference to teammate Kate Sneddon who is living with cystic fibrosis. “On our team we stress the importance of having each other's back; this fundraiser is us having Kate's.”
