Delaware Women's Golfers Finish Second at Season-Opening Nittany Lion Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University of Delaware women's golf team finished second in the team standings while four Blue Hens placed among the top 13 individuals as UD opened its 2015 fall season this weekend at the Nittany Lion Invitational.
Delaware carded its second 296 score of the weekend during Sunday's final round of the tournament, finishing with a three-round score of 895, one shot off the school 54-hole record. Penn State captured its own invitational with an 889 score, while William & Mary was third at 903. Rutgers placed fourth, followed by Towson, Youngstown State, Albany and Randolph-Macon.
Andi Slane fired a two over par 74 during her final round on the par 72, 6,336-yard Penn State Blue Course, as she finished in a tie for fifth place with a seven over par score of 76-73-74-223. Rachel Lee also posted a 74 on Sunday and placed eighth at the tournament at 75-76-74-225, nine over par.Nathalie Filler enjoyed the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with an even par 72, as she ended up in a tie for ninth place with an 11 over par 74-81-72-227. Fellow senior Vimonthip Benjasupawan tied for 13th place at the invitational with a 12 over par score of 71-78-79-228. Vitoria Teixeira carded a 76 during her final round and tied for 23th place with an 18 over par 80-78-76-234, while Ashley Dingman tied for 26th place with a 19 over par 79-76-80-235 during her collegiate debut.
Emma SillsAlex Liu of William & Mary was the tournament medalist after she posted a five-shot victory with a four under par 69-72-71-212.
Delaware returns to action next Saturday and Sunday when the Blue Hens compete in the Diane Thomason Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa.
