UD Men's Basketball Hosting Teacher and School Staff Appreciation Night Jan. 14 vs. Towson

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware Athletics is excited to recognize the top teachers in the state next Thursday, January 14, when the Blue Hen men's basketball squad hosts Colonial Athletic Association rival Towson University at the Bob Carpenter Center.
UD will be hosting its annual Teacher and School Staff Appreciation Night when the Blue Hens and Tigers square off at 7 p.m. Please join us as we honor these wonderful teachers and all they do for our communities and state and the positive impact they have on their students.
As part of the event, UD is offering discounted tickets starting at just $5 for all teachers and school employees, as well as their families and friends. Additionally, UD will be honoring Delaware District Teachers of the Year and the Delaware State Teacher of the Year on the court during halftime. A total of 19 teachers were honored as their district's teacher of the year for the 2015-16 academic year and of those 19, 12 are University of Delaware graduates.
Scheduled to be honored at the game are 2015-16 Delaware State Teacher of the Year Sandra Hall (First Grade Teacher at North Smyrna Elementary School, Smyrna School District) as well as the following district winners:
• Diana M. Golden, Fifth Grade Teacher at Harlan Elementary School, Brandywine School District
• Sandra L. Krugh, First Grade Teacher at W. B. Simpson Elementary School, Caesar Rodney School District
• Lyndsey Cook, Fifth and Sixth Grade Math & Science Teacher at Kent County Community School, Capital School District
• Meghan Farrell, Fourth Grade Teacher at Brader Elementary School, Christina School District
• Kelly A. Sipple, Business Education Teacher at W.T. Chipman Middle School, Lake Forest School District
• Mary Pierce-Cass, Ninth Grade Physical Science Teacher at Laurel High School, Laurel School District
• Kristen L. Charles, High School Mathematics Teacher at Polytech High School, Polytech School District
• Kristen McKenna, Fifth Grade Teacher at Linden Hill Elementary School, Red Clay School District
• Ashley Adlam-Hernandez, Kindergarten Spanish Immersion Teacher at Blades Elementary School, Seaford School District
• Anthony V. Carmen, High School Electronics Teacher at Sussex Technical High School, Sussex Technical School District
• Jenna White, First Grade Teacher at Woodbridge Early Childhood Education Center, Woodbridge School District
