Pilkington Registers Singles Win to Move on to Sunday Play at ITA Atlantic Regional

NORFOLK, Va. – The Blue Hens continued played Saturday at the ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Old Dominion University at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Freshman Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) earned her team-best 11th win of the season with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Saint Joseph's Claire Minnoe. The victory marks her fourth straight and her second over Minnoe after picking up a 6-1, 6-0 win at the Towson Tiger Classic in early September.
Pilkington now advances to the Round of 32 to face Old Dominion's Borislava Botusharova (5-8) Sunday at 10:30 a.m. With a win, she would continue action Sunday at 2 p.m.
In doubles play, Pilkington paired with sophomore Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and picked up the 8-2 loss to Pitt's Audrey Ann Blakely and Lolade Ogungbesan.
Graduate student Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and junior Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) also finished their weekend of ITA play with an 8-7 loss to Virginia's Chloe Gullickson and Cassie Mercer (5-8).
