RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior libero Taylor Hollingsworth was named the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following her two outstanding performances in leading the Blue Hens to a pair of wins over the weekend.
Hollingsworth (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline Academy) led the Blue Hens in digs during all three matches last week, totaling 68 for an average of 6.18 per set. She made 16 digs in last Monday's three-set loss at Northeastern, before pacing the squad with 17 digs during the three-set victory over William & Mary on Friday.
Hollingsworth then recorded a career-high 35 digs in Sunday's thrilling five-set victory over James Madison, the third time this season she has eclipsed the 30-digs mark.
She currently ranks third in the conference with a 4.86 digs average, while her 1,402 career digs puts her just 37 away from cracking UD's career top 10 list.
Hollingsworth, who was also honored by the league on Aug. 29, earned her second CAA Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
Hollingsworth and the Blue Hens, who have won two straight matches to improve to 8-13 overall and 2-6 in conference play, head south this weekend to face the College of Charleston on Friday at 7 p.m. and UNCW on Sunday at 1 p.m.
