PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A pair of freshmen connected for Delaware's lone goal of the day as the Hens fell to Temple, 2-1, at the Temple Sports Complex.
Midfielder Fede Prieto (Las Rozas de Madrid, Spain/IES Carmen Conde) notched his seventh goal of
the season in the 47th minute.
Prieto collected a cross from Arno Masson-Viale (at left; Corsica, France/Lycée Laetitia Bonaparte) to tie things at 1-1 to open the second half of play.
The Owls (9-5-1) broke the stalemate in the 78th minute as Matt Mahoney posted his first tally of the year.
Redshirt sophomore Todd Morton (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) registered seven saves as the Hens fall to 9-5-1 overall this season.
Alex Cagle collected two saves for Temple.
“We gave up an uncharacteristically soft first goal today and ended up chasing the game from there on against a very strong Temple squad, who deserved the victory. This phase of the season has seen us be a hit or miss team, which we are trying to work through before we turn into the CAA Tournament.”
