NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware volleyball team will look to extend its winning streak this weekend when the Blue Hens head south to take on the College of Charleston and UNCW in a pair of Colonial Athletic Association matches.
UD will face the Cougars on Friday at 7 p.m. at TD Arena and the Seahawks on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Trask Coliseum. Live stats will be available for both matches, while Friday's contest at Charleston will be livestreamed.
Delaware will attempt to continue its momentum after recording a pair of league victories at home last weekend, as the Blue Hens posted a three-set win over William & Mary and a five-set triumph over James Madison to improve to 8-13 overall and 2-6 in league play. UD, which has faced every team in the CAA once, is just one game out of a playoff spot as the second half of the conference schedule gets underway.
Autumn Jenkins led the Blue Hens by slamming 14 kills against the Tribe, while Alexa Swann added a season-high 13 of her own. Jenkins then blasted a season-high 19 kills in the thrilling win over the Dukes, while Erin Layne handed out a career-high 51 assists and Taylor Hollingsworth posted a career-best 35 digs. Hollingsworth, the current CAA Defensive Player of the Week, now ranks third in the CAA with 4.86 digs per set, while Swann is fourth with a 1.09 blocks average.
Charleston carries a 13-7 record into Friday's match, and the Cougars currently sit in second place in the CAA standings with a 6-2 league mark. Maddie Hills leads the team with 2.74 kills per set, while Allison Beckman leads the conference with 10.40 assists per set and McKala Rhodes is fourth with a 4.82 digs average.
UNCW is 14-6 overall and 4-4 in the CAA heading into its home match vs. Towson on Friday. Nicole Lott is averaging 3.41 kills per set for the Seahawks to rank third in the CAA, while Sydney Alvis is sixth with 4.45 digs per set.
Delaware will be looking to snap a nine-match losing streak to Charleston and a five-match skid to UNCW, and will attempt to avenge five-set losses to both teams suffered earlier this season at the Carpenter Center.
