NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware volleyball team has earned the sixth seed in this weekend's Colonial Athletic Association Championship and will face third-seeded Northeastern in the quarterfinals on Friday.
The Blue Hens, who won eight of their final 10 matches of the regular season to finish 14-15 overall and 8-8 in league play, will take on the Huskies (20-10, 10-6 CAA) Friday at 7 p.m. at UNCW's Hanover Hall.
All matches of the tournament will be held at Hanover Hall, while each contest will be streamed live for free on CAA.tv and will also be available through the CAA.tv Roku channel.
The championship kicks off on Friday at 4 p.m. with fourth-seeded Hofstra facing fifth-seeded Towson, followed by the Blue Hens' match with Northeastern.
Top-seeded James Madison will face the Hofstra/Towson winner at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the first semifinal, before No. 2 seed College of Charleston takes on the Delaware/Northeastern winner at 5 p.m. in the second semifinal.
The championship match will take place on Sunday at 12 noon, broadcast live on the American Sports Network as well as CAA.tv and the CAA.tv Roku Channel.
Delaware dropped its first six conference matches of the season, but made an incredible turnaround by finishing the year 8-2 to qualify for the CAA Championship for the ninth time in the last 11 years.
The Blue Hens and Huskies split their two regular season meetings this year, with Northeastern recording a three-set victory in Boston on Oct. 10 and Delaware notching a five-set triumph in Newark on Nov. 4.
