Martin Ingelsby has announced that three high school standouts have signed National Letters of Intent with the Blue Hens and will join the program beginning in the 2017-18 season.
Ryan Allen, a 6-2 guard from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., averaged 9.0 points and ranked second on the team with 51 three-pointers a year ago, and scored 19 points in a win over Gonzaga. He helped lead the Stags to a 32-5 record and a runner up finish in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.
“Ryan is talented lead guard who comes from one of the best high school basketball programs in the country,” Ingelsby said. “His basketball IQ and ability to score from all levels will make him an immediate impact guy for us next season. I love what he will bring to our basketball program over the next four years.”
Kevin Anderson, a 6-5 guard from St. John Neumann High School in Williamsport, Pa., averaged 21.5 points and 11 rebounds last year while earning first team PIAA Class A All-State honors. He has helped St. John Neumann win four consecutive District 4 titles, including a 24-1 record and a state tournament appearance a year ago.
“Kevin was the last addition to our 2017 recruiting class and I am thrilled to have him onboard,” Ingelsby noted. “He is a 6'5 guard with point guard skills, and his ability to pass the ball and make his teammates better really appealed to me. His best basketball days are ahead of him.”
Chyree Walker, a 6-5 wing from the Bullis School in Potomac, Md., was named All-Interstate Athletic Conference during each of his last two seasons. He averaged 10.0 points per game as a sophomore before scoring 14.7 points per contest a year ago.
“Chyree was one of the first prospects we had on campus in the spring and is a very important addition to our group,” Ingelsby stated. “He brings energy and competitive spirit every time he steps on the floor. He is a jack of all trades player who will give us great versatility and depth at the wing position.”
“I am very excited to welcome these three young men to the University of Delaware and our basketball program,” Ingelsby said. “All three possess skill sets that were attractive to us and will make our team better. Most importantly, we've added three individuals to our program who understand our mission and want to succeed as much in the classroom as they do on the basketball court. I could not be more thrilled to welcome them to the Delaware basketball family.”
