PRINCETON, N.J. -- Senior jumper Amira Idris and sophomore shot putter Sarah Hillman both continued their impressive indoor seasons and freshman Carly Pettipaw set another school freshman record to lead the University of Delaware at the Princeton Invitational Sunday at Jadwin Gym.
Idris won the long jump with a leap of 19-feet, 3.5 inches to capture her third indoor title of the season while Hillman captured her third shot put title of the season with a toss of 47-0.25. Both distances met ECAC qualifying standards.
Pettipaw finished fifth in the 800 meters but her time of 2:15.28 was good enough to qualify for the ECAC meet and help her break the UD freshman record of 2:16.46 set by Liz McGroarty in 2015. Pettipaw also set the school freshman record in the 500 meters and 600 meters earlier this season.
Delaware had 32 top 10 finishes overall during the non-scoring meet, which also included teams from Princeton, Penn, Stevens Tech, Neumann, Harcum JC, Moravian, Community College of Philadelphia, Georgetown, Misericordia.
Idris also placed second in the triple jump (39-1.75), Ashley Bailey was second in the pole vault (12-5.5) and third in the long jump (18-5.25), Hillman was third in the weight throw (51-3), Lauren Zodl was third in the 3,000 meters (10:09.24), Olivia Goncerz was third in the 60 meter hurdles (9.33), and Carolyn Darr was third in both the 400 meters (59.14) and 4 x 400 meter relay (4:07.63).
Delaware will continue action next Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Last Chance Meet at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
