OCEANSIDE, N.Y. – Delaware opened conference play Saturday evening with a 5-2 loss to Hofstra at Point Set Indoor Tennis.
Tied at 1-1 in doubles play, the Pride (6-2, 1-1 CAA) was able to pull out the third set victory to notch the first point of the evening.
Hofstra took a 2-0 lead before Blue Hens freshman Annie Jaskulski (Wilmington, Del./Friends) collected Delaware's first singles win with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Sarah Herndon in the third slot.
The Pride sealed the win in the fifth flight before sophomore Arielle Shuren (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) logged a 6-4, 6-4 victory versus Giulia Leone in No. 6 singles.
With the loss, UD falls to 7-3 overall and 0-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play.
