Martin Leads Blue Hens To 13th Place Finish at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team tied for 13th place in the team standings while Kyle Martin tied for 18th place in the individual standings as the Blue Hens wrapped up play at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
The Blue Hens recorded a 297 team score during the final round of the tournament, moving up three spots from Monday with a three-round total of 895. Penn State won the 24-team event with an 845 score, while Tennessee finished five shots back at 850.
Martin fired a two over par 72 on the par 70, 6,765-yard River Course on Tuesday, finishing with a seven over par total of 75-70-72-217, the lowest 54-hole score of his career. He also notched his third top-20 finish of the year, tied for second most on the team.
Blaine Lafferty, who carded a 71-75-81-227 during the invitational, and Mark Benevento, who shot 77-75-75-227, each tied for 69th place at 17 over par. Kieran Purcell tied for 88th place with a 20 over par 74-82-74-230, while Joe Visalli fired a 30 over par 83-81-76-240 to tie for 118th place.
Paul Barjon of TCU carded a 66 on Tuesday to finish at seven under par and earn medalist honors.
The Blue Hens return to action on Mar. 28-29 when they compete in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa.
