ELKTON, Md. – For the second time this season, freshman Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) sealed the win for the Blue Hens in come-from-behind fashion Saturday evening as Delaware defeated Bucknell, 4-3, at Elkton Indoor Tennis.
Komer battled Lauren Fishbein in No. 4 singles and eventually collected the 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory to clinch the team win.
The Bison (3-2) picked up the team doubles point before going up, 2-0, with the No. 1 singles victory.
Freshman Sarah Hall (West Orange, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) logged UD's first decision of the night with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Mishi Papich in the fourth flight.
Classmate Annie Jaskulski (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) tied the game at 2-2 by defeating Michele Urbinati, 6-0, 6-2 in the third spot.
Junior Denny LaMachia (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) followed with her fourth straight singles win with a 6-3, 6-2 score in the No. 2 slot.
“This was once again another super close match that we were able to pull out in the end. Bucknell is young, deep and very well coached. Having so many three set matches so far this season is the key as we continue to get better.”
