NEWARK, Del. -- James Madison used a seventh inning rally to break open a one-run game as the Dukes went on to defeat Delaware, 7-3, Friday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium in the opening game of the teams' CAA baseball series.
James Madison (12-14, 3-1 CAA) struck first during the top of the second when Mike Sciorra dropped down a squeeze bunt to drive home Kyle Weston. The Dukes then tacked on a pair of runs during the
top of the sixth as Zach Tondi laced an RBI double to rightcenter before coming around to score on a single up the middle by Sciorra.
Delaware (16-10, 0-4 CAA) got on the board during the bottom half, as Nick Tierno led off the frame with a walk before Jordan Glover blasted a pitch deep over the leftfield fence.
However JMU answered right back in the top of the seventh with a four-run rally to put the game away. Ky Parrott led off with a triple, and he immediately crossed the plate when Kyle McPherson followed with an RBI single.
