Delaware Baseball Picks Up First Conference Victory of Season, Pounds James Madison 16-6

“Walter threw well, and his stuff was looking good,” said Sherman. “We would just like him to get to the point where he consistently reaches the seventh and eighth innings.”
The Blue Hens jumped out fast, scoring five runs in the first frame thanks to three hits and five walks that chased James Madison starter Colton Harlow (2-3), who got just one out. UD would later score four more runs in the fifth thanks to a pair of home runs by Glover - a two-run shot to left center - and Nardo's solo clout to left two batters later. The Delaware bats were not done yet as the Blue Hens scored six more runs in the seventh inning to increase the lead to 16-1. The Blue Hens got seven hits in the inning, including two off the bat of Ake, who finished the day with three hits and a walk. Tierno added a based loaded double in the inning that scored two runs.
The Dukes tried their best to get back in the game in the eighth inning when they scored five runs, but the UD lead was well out of their reach. Delaware's Matt Hornich wrapped up the game nicely for the Blue Hens, pitching two scoreless, hitless innings.
