Two longtime rivals will go at it again Saturday when the Blue Hens look to pull off the upset and down #7 Towson Saturday at Unitas Stadium. The teams will meet for the 57thtime since 1961 and will square off for the 41st straight season since 1976. Delaware is looking to bounce back from a 13-7 setback at Hofstra last Saturday and move back into the thick of the CAA standings and put themselves in a position for a postseason playoff berth. Defending CAA champion Towson (10-1, 2-0 CAA) has won five straight, including an 11-8 win over UMass last Saturday. The Tigers are 7-0 at home and have won eight straight at Unitas Stadium since the 2015 season.
LAST TIME OUT
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Apr. 9, 2016) -- A slow start doomed the Blue Hens in their Colonial Athletic Association battle at Hofstra as Delaware fell behind 8-1 in the first half and could never catch up as part of a 13-7 setback at Shuart Stadium.
Delaware (4-8, 1-1 CAA), coming off a 9-7 win over Massachusetts in their league opener the previous week, could not keep that momentum going as the Blue Hens fell behind quickly, pulled to within five goals early in the final stanza, but could never get closer. The Hens fell to Hofstra for the sixth straight time since a win in the 2011 CAA semifinals.
Blue Hen redshirt freshman Andrew Romagnoli led the Hens with two goals and an assist while sophomore Dean DiSimone, the reigning CAA Player of the Week, added two goals, Steve DeLargy contributed a goal and an assist, and Connor Frisina tallied one goal. Goalkeeper Parker Ferrigan also contributed 11 saves in goal.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
• Delaware has gone 4-4 since opening the season with an 0-4 mark (outscored 42-24).
• The Hens are 1-1 vs. USILA Top 20 teams this season with a 5-1 loss at No. 16 Navy on Feb. 21 and a 9-7 win over No. 19 Massachusetts on Apr. 2. A victory by Delaware over Towson this week would mark UD's first win over a USILA Top 10 team since defeating then No. 8 Villanova in 2012. Delaware has not defeated a team ranked as high as No. 7 since a 7-6 victory over then No. 4 Hofstra in 2011.
• Sophomore Dean DiSimone was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week after scoring three goals in the win over Massachusetts on Apr. 2.
• DiSimone, who scored just two goals over the first nine games of the season, recorded his second straight hat trick vs. UMass after notching three goals and three assists in the 15-11 loss at Rutgers on Mar. 26. He became the first UD player since Grant Kaleikau (“clay-cow”) in 2013 to score 10 points in a two-game stretch and the first to record back-to-back hat tricks since Dan Keane scored three or more goals in three straight games in 2014.

• Delaware GK Parker Ferrigan scored a goal in the first half of the 12-11 overtime win over Binghamton on Mar. 12. He became the first UD goalkeeper to score since Jamie Blalock tallied a goal vs. Penn State in 1993
