Delaware Men's Golfers Finish Ninth at East Carolina Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men's golf team fired a 315 score during Tuesday's final round of the East Carolina Intercollegiate to finish the tournament in ninth place out of 13 teams.
The host Pirates captured the team title with an 880 three-round score, while Campbell and Florida Gulf Coast tied for second at 903. The Blue Hens, who posted 311 and 318 scores on Monday, placed ninth with a three-round total of 944.
UD senior Kyle Martin carded a five over par 77 during his final round on the par 72, 6,789-yard course at Brook Valley Country Club, finishing in a tie for 28th place at 76-79-77-232, 16 over par. Kieran Purcell, who tied Martin for the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen, tied for 43rd place with a 22 over par score of 83-78-77-238. Blaine Lafferty also tied for 43rd place with his 22 over par total of 76-81-81-238.
Jack Gianniny recorded a 25 over par 81-80-80-241 to finish in 53rd place at the tournament, while Marc Oliveri tied for 61st place with a 29 over par score of 78-83-84-245. Playing as an individual, Tianlin Zhang carded a 41 over par 86-81-90-257 to finish in 74th place.
Al Dickens of East Carolina was the tournament medalist after he carded an even par 72-70-74-216 at the invitational.
The Blue Hens return to action on Apr. 11-12 when they compete in the Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational at The Old White TPC Golf Course in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
