Delaware Heads South For CAA Weekend Series at UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The University of Delaware softball team will look to continue its offensive success this weekend when the Blue Hens head to UNCW for a three-game conference series with the Seahawks.
Delaware and UNCW will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday at Bozeman Field, with action on both days beginning at 1 p.m. A video stream and live stats will be available for all three games of the series.
The Blue Hens enter the weekend having won seven consecutive games, improving their record to 22-12 overall and 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Seahawks are 21-15 this season, but have won just one of their first five league contests.
Delaware has averaged 8.3 runs per game during its winning streak, while the Blue Hens have scored at least eight runs in four consecutive games for the first time since the program's inaugural season in 1976. UD currently leads the conference with a .313 team batting average this year, and the Blue Hens have scored a run in 30 straight games.
Mariah Kondravy continues to lead the Blue Hens with a .382 batting average and 11 doubles on the season, while Leanna Gearhart is hitting .353 and leads the conference with 33 runs scored, five triples and 31 stolen bases. Gabby Klecko, who recorded a team-high five hits during Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of Delaware State, is hitting .337 on the year, while Anna Steinmetz currently ranks second in the CAA with nine homers and tied for third with 28 RBI.
Carolyn Szymanski is 9-7 with a 2.51 earned run average for the Blue Hens, while Kiersten Coffman ranks second in the league with 13 wins and third with 99 strikeouts.
UNCW is batting a league-worst .241 at the plate this season, but the Seahawks rank second in the conference with a 2.23 team ERA. Kelsey Bryan is hitting a team-best .288 for UNCW, while Hannah Adamczyk is batting .286 with team-highs of 32 hits and nine doubles. Kali Jones leads the Seahawks with 18 runs scored, while Merritt Wilkinson has posted a team-high 17 RBI. Peyton Jordan paces the UNCW pitching staff with 11 wins and a 2.16 earned run average.
The Blue Hens lead the all-time series with the Seahawks, 27-12, and Delaware took two of three meetings last year in Newark.
