Softball Scores Runs in Every Inning in Blowout Win Over New Mexico State

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Katie Scheivert was on base in all five plate appearances as she went 4-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, a double, and two runs scored.Â
- Gianna Costaro went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, a walk, and two runs scored.Â
- Bridget Chapman had a home run and a double with two runs scored and two RBIs.Â
- Ellie Mulligan hit a solo home run.Â
- Maddie Diamond was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.  Â
- Caylin Blazys had two hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Â
- Allie Nankivell went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Â
- Josie Crossman pitched all six innings and allowed six hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out four.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware put up three runs in the first inning, as Scheivert and Sydney Shaffer both reached base with one out and Costaro brought the first run home on a groundout. Diamond walked and Sorella Gallucci was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then Blazys singled in two for the second and third runs.Â
- Crossman pitched a perfect first inning with a strikeout.Â
- UD scored three again in the second, as Shaffer scored Nankivell on a ground ball and Costaro hit a two-run home run to put Delaware up 6-0.Â
- Another strikeout helped Crossman escape a first-and-second jam in the second.Â
- Scheivert had an RBI single in the third to score Chapman, making the score 7-0. Crossman pitched a perfect bottom half of the inning.Â
- An unearned run in the fourth put UD ahead 8-0. New Mexico State got an unearned run back in the bottom half of the inning.Â
- Mulligan homered to lead off the fifth to put Delaware ahead 9-1. NM State loaded the bases with one out but Crossman was able to limit the damage to one run.Â
- Chapman hit an inside-the-park home run in the sixth that scored Blazys and gave Delaware an 11-2 lead. Crossman sealed the win with a 1-2-3 sixth inning.Â
GAME NOTES
- Scheivert recorded her 17th multi-hit game of the year and third four-hit game. She has 59 career multiple hit games and four career games with four hits.Â
- Costaro has hit three home runs over her last four games. Her 17 career home runs put her in sole possession of seventh place in program history.Â
- Mulligan's home run was her fourth of her career and third this season.Â
- Chapman's home run was the third of her career.Â
- Nankivell had her 13th multi-hit game of the season.Â
- Blazys recorded multiple hits in a game for the first time in her career.Â
- Crossman has allowed two runs or fewer in five-straight games.Â
- Delaware won its eighth game this season via run rule and 53rd under Jen Steele. The eight victories by run rule this season are the second-most in program history, trailing only last season's record of 17.
- Delaware is 7-1 this season in the second game of the weekend series.Â
- Delaware hit three home runs in a game for the third time this season, also doing so on March 1 against Le Moyne, April 2 vs UTEP, and April 18 vs Kennesaw State.Â
- Delaware's 47 home runs this season are the second most in program history, trailing only last season's record of 57.
- Delaware's 15 hits were a new season high.Â
- Delaware improved to 79-24Â in the month of April under Steele.
- Delaware became the first team this season to hold New Mexico State to three runs or fewer in two-straight games.Â

Softball season ticket deposits are available now. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets will go on sale later this winter.
Individual ticket prices will be $10 per game and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Season ticket packages will be available at 50 percent off the single-game rate. There will also be group rates, incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. All seating will be general admission at Delaware Softball Diamond.
UD students will continue to receive free tickets to all home softball games.
