GRAND LAKE, Colo. – For the third and final time in their careers, seniors Erin Wein (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada/Berkshire) were recognized by the IWLCA as All-Region performers.
Wein, who was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month, earned All-Mid Atlantic Region First Team accolades for the first time in her career after collecting two Second Team awards.
Lyons collected her third Second Team nod in as many seasons.
Both Wein and Lyons received All-CAA First Team honors.
Kateri LinvilleWein finished her career in a Blue Hens uniform as the program's leader with 126 caused turnovers while also posting 119 groundballs, 26 draw controls and 19 points (5g, 14a). The defender bested her own program-record this season with 39 caused turnovers and ranked first in the CAA with 2.29 caused turnovers per game, a mark that was good for 10th nationally. A constant in the Delaware lineup, Wein started all of 68 of UD's games during her four-year career.
Lyons led the Hens with 54 points on 27 goals and a career-best 27 assists. Her league-leading 1.80 assists per game were good for 21st amongst all NCAA Division I players while she was second in the CAA with 3.60 points per game, which places her 35th nationally. The attacker finished her three-year career with Delaware ranked ninth all-time with 65 assists and 13th overall with 168 points.
In total, the IWLCA honored 128 Division I student-athletes as All-Regional selections. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 18. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday, June 4.
Delaware completed the 2015 slate with an 11-6 record while going 3-3 in conference play.
