Patty Post has announced that Aashaka Desai, Ariane Klotz and Isabella Rimton have signed National Letters of Intent with UD and will begin playing for the Blue Hens this fall.
Desai, a native of Dubai, United Arab Emirates who was born in India, earned the Dubai Creek Golf Club Monthly Medal in September, 2015 with a career-low round of 70. She was the runner-up at the 2016 Meydan Ladies Open with a four over par, and also finished as the runner-up at the 2015 Montgomerie Ladies Open with a six over par.
Desai was the EGF Order of Merit Gross & Net Girls Champion in 2012-13, the Gross & Net Runner-Up in 2013-14, and the Gross Runner-Up in 2014-15. Desai, who will major in computer science at Delaware, was named an Ace Scholar during her senior year.
Klotz, a native of New Caledonia, recently won the Grand Prix in her home country with a 75-66-70, as her six under par 66 was her lowest career round. She also was the New Caledonian champion in 2012, 2013 and 2015, and finished third at the qualifications at the 2014 France Junior Championships. Klotz was the bronze medalist at the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea, where she led her team to a second place finish. Additionally, she finished third at the Greg Norman Junior Masters in December, 2015.
Rimton, a native of Malmö, Sweden, has been a two-year member of the Swedish Girls Future National Team and set a course record at Bokskogen Golf Club by firing a 66. She is a two-time champion on the Skandia Tour, and has posted four victories at The Club Championships at Bokskogen's Golf Course. She was one of three players to receive the All-Star Trophy of the Swedish Skandia Cup, and was the youngest competitor in the Women's Swedish Team National Championship.
Rimton earned a 4.0 during every year of high school, studying business, economics and marketing for three years at ProCivitas Private Gymnasium in Malmö.
“We are so excited to bring these three talented golfers into our program,” said Post. “They all bring great experience and something different to the Blue Hens golf program. We have a large freshman class and expect them to leave a great legacy during their four years at Delaware.”
Desai, Klotz and Rimton join Josefina Fernandez-Davila and Kyle Greulich as the UD women's golf Class of 2020.
