Seven Home Dates Highlight 2016-17 Women's Basketball Non-Conference Campaign

Tina MartinThe Blue Hens, who went 16-15 last season with their seventh straight trip to the CAA semifinals, will play seven of their 11 non-conference contests within the friendly confines of the Bob Carpenter Center.
This coming season, Delaware will face six squads that reached NCAA Tournament or WNIT postseason play and two conference champions last season in addition to three first-time opponents.
The Hens open the year by hosting George Mason on November 13 before taking a trip to Washington D.C. to face American on November 16. Delaware then returns to the Bob for matchups against NCAA Tournament teams St. Bonaventure (November 19) and Princeton (November 22).
For the second straight season, the Blue Hens will fly west for the Thanksgiving break as CSUN will host Delaware, Detroit and Michigan State on November 25-26 in Northridge, Calif. Delaware has never faced CSUN or Detriot in program history. The Spartans finished 2015-16 ranked No. 16/21 nationally.
UD follows with back-to-back home contests against NCAA Tournament competitor and NEC champion Robert Morris (December 1) and WNIT participant Georgetown (December 4) before a quick trek to Baltimore for a December 7 pairing at Loyola.
The Hens will wrap non-conference play before the holiday break with matchups versus Patriot League champion Army West Point (December 11) and Hartford (December 21).
Martin is in her 21st season at the helm of the Blue Hens, who return seven letter winners from last year while adding four newcomers to the squad.
The Colonial Athletic Association slate is expected to be released early this fall.
