Martin Ingelsby era on Nov. 11 against local opponent Goldey-Beacom as the Blue Hens announced their 2016-17 schedule on Thursday.
Delaware will play 13 non-conference games before concluding the season with 18 consecutive Colonial Athletic Association contests. The Blue Hens' 14 games at the Bob Carpenter Center will be the most since the 2011-12 campaign.
Ingelsby, the former Notre Dame assistant who was hired as UD's head coach in May, will make his Bob Carpenter Center debut against the Division II Lightning on Nov. 11 as part of the Tarkett Sports Classic. The Blue Hens will then head to Bradley on Nov. 13, before a game at La Salle two nights later. The grueling stretch concludes with games against Miami (Ohio), Northern Kentucky and Austin Peay on Nov. 18-20 at the Tarkett Sports Classic at Miami (Ohio), as the Blue Hens play six games in the first 10 days of the season.
Delaware returns home on Nov. 27 to take on Division III foe Bryn Athyn, and remains in Newark to host in-state rival Delaware State on Dec. 2. The Blue Hens and Hornets will be meeting for the eighth consecutive season, as UD has taken four of the previous seven matchups including last year's opener in Dover.
Following a nine-day break, Delaware will face the toughest stretch of its non-conference slate, as the Blue Hens head to defending Ivy League champion Yale on Dec. 11 and to Big East Tournament champion Seton Hall on Dec. 17. UD then will host Marist on Dec. 20, and following a road game at South Florida two nights later, wraps up its non-league schedule at home against Iona on Dec. 28.
For the second consecutive year Delaware will open its CAA slate on New Year's Eve against Hofstra, although this season's game will take place at the BCC. The Blue Hens remain home to host Charleston on Jan. 2, and after a road contest at Northeastern on Jan. 5, are right back in Newark to take on CAA defending champion UNCW on Jan. 7.
Two local road games follow, as Delaware heads to Towson on Jan. 12 and Drexel on Jan. 14, before returning home the following week to welcome Northeastern and Towson to the BCC. Following a road game at William & Mary on Jan. 26, the Blue Hens are back home to host James Madison two days later. Delaware then heads to Hofstra on Feb. 2 and UNCW on Feb. 4, and after a home contest against Elon on Feb. 9, travels south to face James Madison two days later.
Delaware hosts long-time rival Drexel on Feb. 16, with the home finale scheduled for Feb. 18 against William & Mary. The regular season concludes with a southern swing, as the Blue Hens head to Charleston on Feb. 23 and to Elon on Feb. 25.
After three years in Baltimore, the CAA Tournament moves to the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, S.C. on Mar. 3-6.
All dates and times are subject to change based on future television schedules. The CAA's full television package will be announced at the league's basketball media day on Oct. 25.
